If you are planning to visit China in the near future, more than anything else you must be dying to witness the grandeur of the Great Wall of China. Right? You know what, understanding a bit about the history and background of the landmark that you are planning to visit only serves in enhancing your travel related experience.
The Great Wall of China is one of the most magnificent man made structures in the world. Until and unless you don't visit and witness this extensive structure yourself, you will never be able to realize its immense beauty because no words are enough to describe the splendor of this wonder.
Qin Shi Huangdi, who was the first emperor of China during the Qin Dynasty, built the Great Wall of China over 2,000 years ago. So to make my point more clear, I would suggest that you should know about the facts related to this great monument before making a trip to China. Other key points are that there are in totality nine different segments of the structure that tourists can visit throughout China. The Beijing section is the most famous of them all, having 4 sections that tourists most often would like to visit; the Badaling, Mutianyu, Simatai and Shixiaguan sections. These four sections have also played their individual parts during the construction and destruction of the structure during the revolution. The Simatai section that is located at the northeast of Beijing is a reserved section of the wall that has beenl preserved the way it was hundreds of years ago. This is why it is always nice to have a good, nice and cozy walk on the section that will let you experience the past.
The best time to visit the structure is in the fall season as the amazing peaks are featured in beautiful colors creating a perfect view. During winters, the entire structure is turned into snowy frosted scenery. So the fall season really adds an advantage to the whole visiting experience. Most visitors do not like to visit the wall during winters because of the bitter winter cold.
There are certain things that you have to keep in mind while visiting this awesome place:
- Much of the area is built among the mountain passes. So it is advised that you must wear appropriate clothing. If you are planning to visit the Great Wall in summer time, then you should bring light clothing, sunscreen lotion and sunglasses, suitable for walking in the mountains.
- Heavy traveling bags will only make your hike more difficult.
- The weather conditions in the mountains are highly unpredictable. So you must carry windcheaters and umbrellas with you.
- You should never wear new footwear for those hard mountain passages as your feet will likely swell because of the altitude.
- Get yourself prepared for extensive walking.
At present, this amazing structure has become a symbol of the entire country and the only man-made structure visible from space. Am I Right? The main point is that the Great Wall of China attracts millions of tourists every year from all around the world and has remained a symbol of originality and inventiveness for the human race. |
