Okay tell me what is Gulet? Gulet is nothing but a wooden motor sailing yacht that is meant for the purpose of cruising the coasts in the lazy and cozy waters of the Mediterranean.
As far as the meaning of this word is concerned, it has been derived from the French goelette that mean schooner. If we have a glimpse of the history, then let me tell you that the classic Gulet is extremely famous and widely remembered for its low-to-the-water profile and roomy hull, rounded aft.
Okay let us know something about the places that are linked with it. Bodrum and Marmaris are the cities that are located Turkey are are extremely famous in gulet building through out the world. The building process nearly takes one year. The market here is very huge.
The Turkish "Gulet" is nothing but a traditionally designed wooden motor sailor. She has the heritage of those ancient boats which had the history of sailing across the Aegean and Mediterranean seas for God knows hoe many year. The counting is countless. It seems that thousand sofa years have passed since then .The original gulet has the rounded aft but the fact is that these days flat backed style Gulets (Ketch) are existing.
The living areas of a Gulet is consisted of a saloon, a lot of them are geared up with closed aft rather than having a saloon and cabins. On the other hand, if we have a clode look at the Charter gulets, they are geared up with more cabins then private use gulets.
What is the difference between Gulet and Ketch? Let us have a look: Gulet Turkish wooden boat with round stern (cruiser stern). Normally between 14m to 20m. But as far as the current scenario is seen it is built up to 35m length
Ketch Turkish traditional wooden boat with transom stern. Normally between 14m to 24m. But these days she is built up to 35m length. Of course changes are bound to happen with the passage of time.
When you're buying check the following: -Year Built (Check the year of the gulet) -Hull Material (Check the wood type used in building) -Check the cabins (For charter or private use) -Electricity (The electricity voltage at the vessel is 12-24-220 V)
