You are at an unknown place and are facing commuting problems therefore you plan to hire a car but where should you start? Just keep these following points in mind while hiring a car and your journey will not be spoiled. You should make sure the following items are all included in the package deal:
- Airport Surcharges: It may be added separately or should be included in the rental deal.
- Collision or Damage Waiver
- Third party insurance.
- Breakdown cover
- Local surcharges
- You must check whether some extra drivers are involved or if an additional charge is payable at the time of booking.
- If you are bound to drive a lot during your entire journey, then you should consider hiring a car that provides unlimited mileage. So you must check about all kinds of mileage restrictions (if any) in your policy.
- If your trip involves a lot of driving in hot countries, then it is recommended that you should hire a car with air conditioning facility.
- The most important thing that you must confirm is about the excess charge on the insurance cover.
- And Yes what about additional car seats for children?
- You can usually avail them by paying an extra amount of money. But it is better if you take your car seat with you. There are certain reasons for that. Firstly you know how to fit it as you may find problems in fitting a chair that is altogether new to you. Secondly you are very well aware of its history and the last factor is, you can very well use the money that you will save by taking your own seat with you on some other useful item.
- Documents:
- Make sure that you are carrying your passport and driving license with you but if you are driving in some other country, then you should carry an International Driving Permit as well.
- Check whether all the details and specifications are the same as when you booked before signing. Make sure that car is in the same condition as described and anything extra you ordered for is included. Check all the booking confirmation documents on hand to verify each and every statement.
- Once you get the charge of the car, check it very carefully for any kind of damage. It is done to make sure that you don't get extra charges for dents or scratches for which you are not responsible at all.
- If there are any dents or scratches, then inform the sales person as soon as possible so that he should come to know about it before blaming you as the cause.
- Consider about your luggage and the number of passengers before opting for the car that should match up to your expectations.
HAVE A HAPPY AND A SAFE JOURNEY FOLKS! |
