As complicated as the thought of even packing your luggage for a trip may seem, the reality is that it is not half as complicated if done with the doors of one's basic sensibilities wide open. Whether packing for a business trip or for that much-awaited vacation, touring luggage forms an essential aspect of both, as it is the only tiny piece of home that you can carry around with you. Packing your luggage sensibly becomes even more important if your mode of transportation is an airplane, as air authorities have stringent guidelines regarding luggage that passengers must follow to avoid inconvenience. If you choose to get to your destination via a train, bus or car, you need not follow the strict airline rules. That said, by no means is it advisable for you to pack the most unnecessary and inconsequential articles in your luggage as it a well-known fact that added luggage will only add to your worries and greatly impairs your mobility.
There are certain items, however that you absolutely cannot do without regardless of the nature of the trip or the mode of transportation that you choose to opt for. Life is all about preparing in advance for each day that you face. Yes, spontaneity is highly appreciated but as far as packing your luggage for a trip is concerned, you should probably give the spontaneity factor some slack. The key to having an enjoyable and hassle-free trip is to pack all the essentials and be prepared to counter adverse situations, if faced with any. Now what are these essential / basic items that I have continually been harping upon? These absolute necessities have been listed below:
- The to-do list: Whether heading out for a trip that involves business or one that is purely for purposes of pleasure, a to-do list containing all the purposes your trip must serve is an absolute essential. This is simply due to the fact that having an itinerary as one of the items in your luggage will enable you to plan your entire trip in advance and pack the remaining essentials accordingly.
- Items close to your heart: Few items that you would of course swear by could be your toiletries, wallet, medicines, underwear or other items that feature on your must-have list. It would be advisable to pack these essentials first, probably in a separate travel bag that you could have close to you at all times while traveling. Other important items like air tickets and passports (if traveling by air) must be allocated a special pocket in your handbag so that you don't have to loose your mind searching for them in your luggage.
- Clothes and shoes: Please don't think that I'm just trying to eat up a point here by mentioning these obvious items on the must-have list. As obvious as they may seem, filling your suitcase with 'just' clothes and shoes is neither enough nor appropriate. Considering the places that you will visit, the purpose of your trip, the kind of weather conditions you will face are pivotal aspects to be considered to pack 'correctly' for your trip. You should consider packing clothes that are easily washable and don't need to be ironed. As far as shoes are concerned, try and keep them minimalist and light.
- Medication, insurance and tags & labels: These three items are equally necessary, as you will need medication and insurance to ensure your good health, safety and security respectively. Tags and labels are important because among the pool of luggage your suitcase might get lost if it doesn't display an identification tag or label reflecting your personal details.
With these items in your luggage, you are ready to set out for the most rewarding trip of your life sans any worries. Good luck. |
