Planning a vacation to Cuba will be a memorable experience. Though Cuba is a small island located at the mouth of the Gulf of Mexico, but it has been the center of many major world events. It is one of the most beautiful Caribbean Islands and hence it is the most preferred Caribbean holiday destinations.
Cuba consists of a lot of wonderful places for you to visit and offers a lot of things for your entertainment. It is better to access the island by air rather than by boat. The island is divided into three parts, Western Cuba, Central Cuba and Eastern Cuba. You can travel from one place to the other by car, bus, plane or boat.
Some of the most popular tourist destinations in Cuba are:
- Havana: It is the capital of Cuba.
- Santa Clara: It hosts the statue of Che Guevara.
- Pinar del Rio: It is regarded as the capital of the cigar industry.
- Varadero, Santiago de Cuba and Baracoa are well-known for their beaches.
- Trinidad: This Cuban city is famous for its colonial-era architecture.
- The place is not only surrounded by water on all sides but also has several national parks where you can indulge in different fun-filled activities.
- Vinales National Park and La Guira National park have a lot of caves and mountains.
- Some other places that you must visit in Cuba are the tobacco factories, the sea wall Malecon, the coral reefs from Cayo Coco and many more.
December to April is the best time to plan a vacation in Cuba. If you are travelling to this island for the first time, then you should take into consideration the following points:
- You should find out if you need a visa and how can you obtain it at the earliest.
- The two kinds of currency used in Cuba arethe Cuban Pesos (CUP) and the Cuban Convertible Pesos (CUC). It will be more preferable for you to use the CUP.
- For accommodation, you should try the private rooms known as casa particular. They will enable you to experience the Cuban lifestyle and culture.
- You should be attentive enough to note that you are not being overcharged.
- There are restrictions on the amount of cigars, rum, coffee and other souvenirs that you can take along with you on your return from Cuba. So keep in mind those restrictions.
Some of the renowned hotels in Cuba include:
- The Nacional: It is one of the most popular hotels in Havana. The rooms of the hotel offer stunning views across the sea and over the cityscape. However it is one star short of five as the rooms are functional but are not so luxurious. If your budget permits you, then prefer to book a room on the Executive Floor, as the rooms there are better served.
- Saratoga: It is paramount in luxury and deserves each one of its five stars. The hotel is equipped with a magnificent rooftop swimming pool, and splendid rooms. You can enjoy the spectacular views of both the port and the skyline from the rooms of this hotel. It was built in the 1930s and since then it has attracted a large number of artists and socialites from all over the globe.
I hope the above mentioned tourist spots, precautions and list of popular hotels will help you out in planning a vacation to Cuba. |
