Europe is the sixth largest continent in the world and is comprised of 45 countries, each known for it's rich and diverse cultural heritage. Being almost financially and socially vanquished by the two World Wars, Europe has been one exemplary case of steady social and economic reconstruction. This land truly personifies the march towards growth and modernity, while keeping its age-old traditions close to it's heart. Europe is the mystical land of poets, artists, wizards, potters, musicians and more. The vastness of this land is unfathomable and you could probably take a lifetime to discover all it's wonders. It is rather impossible to encompass all it's beauty and grandeur in a single travel guide, but I will pick four selective destinations and be as comprehensive about them as possible. One of the most famous and prosperous cities in Europe is London, which happens to be the capital city of the United Kingdom (England). Apart from the designer boutiques and famous restaurants, there are many popularly visited places of much historical importance in London. The Millennium Dome, the British Museum and the Royal Parks of London should compulsorily be on your itinerary when you visit London. After all no visit to Europe can be nearly complete if you haven't been to London. Budapest, the capital city of Hungary, claims to hold the political and cultural nerve of the country and is truly qualified to claim so. It also forms the industrial and economic stronghold of this country. Buda Castle that was formerly known as the Royal Palace and the Royal Castle is famous for its medieval, Baroque style houses and public buildings and forms a major attraction for visitors. Then comes Danube Promenade, which when illuminates itself at night is a scintillating treat to the eyes. The Andrassay Avenue is one of the most famous streets in Budapest. The street has been declared a World Heritage Site for being embedded with grand neo-renaissance palaces and houses. The city of the Spaniards, Barcelona, is the second largest city in Spain. It is placed on the picturesque Mediterranean Coast and has great tourist hangouts to offer. The City Museum takes one back in time to the Roman Empire, the Sonar Music Festival is a magnet for electronic music followers, the 18th century built Hospital de Sant Pau is a structure that would make you marvel at the architectural genius of the legendary Domenech i Montane and of course Barcelona is also the place where you will find the centuries old Spanish delicacy – the Payeya. Rome, the capital of Italy, has retained some of its historical architecture from the Renaissance and the Baroque era. It is home to our honorable Pope who is the religious head of the Vatican City situated at the heart of Rome. This place is a must-see for it's serenity and will make you feel closer to Heaven. The world famous Coliseum is the largest amphitheater in Rome and is one of the splendorous legacies left behind by the Roman Empire. The National Museum and Michelangelo's Piazza del Campidoglio will take you back in time.
Your list of places to visit in Europe has been adequately furnished for the time being I guess. The more you see, the more you'll be awed by Europe's sheer beauty and diversity. There is no escaping the charm of this land. So, get up and get going. |
